La grande fabrique de mots, ill. Valeria Docampo, Alice jeunesse, 2009

In fairy-tale language, the protagonist Rose collects the 'fog' that veils the world in which she lives in order to weave it into cloth and sell it to the villagers who use it to hide what they do not want to see: wrinkles, debts, unbearable parents.

But there is never enough fabric, it has to be replaced all the time.

Rose's heart and eyes are full of sadness at the disappearance of her father. She has had to grow up in spite of this emptiness, which is why she weaves fabrics with fog. To veil and hide the pain. But when her father returns, the sun returns and Rose has the chance to weave clothes of light for herself and the whole village.

A story accompanied by images of extraordinary beauty that speaks of the sadness that defends us from pain and the work needed to find the light again.
